Introducing.....

Maybe I need more dogs for distraction practice?.....

Introducing Finnegan!

But no, I'm not so dedicated that I went out and adopted a dog just to practice distractions. Finnegan is a foster pup from Okanagan Collie Resuce who is staying with us while he waits for his forever home. I don't think it will be long. He's a sweetie and soooo well-behaved for a pup! Who could say no to that face?!

Making Progress

Okay, this time it's not my fault. Well, it is. Sort of. Strictly speaking it was technical difficulties. As in I forgot my login password. Sigh...I hate old age.

But anyway, finally got a chance to get it reset and am back in. Clancy and I didn't have class last week so nothing to update there anyway. There was class, we just weren't there. Clancy was away for the Port Alberni show. He seems to be the champion...of second place. I didn't go up to watch - too many family committments - but apparently he showed well and didn't have issues with his collar/leash. The show circuit is over now till the spring so we'll see how he behaves over the winter and then make a decision: Neuter? Show? Neuter? Show? Neuter?...I wonder which he would choose?

He's coming along exceedingly well. Exceedingly. Is this a normal sheltie thing? Mind you, we have become experts at the two minute training session. Quick, kids are in the bath? Let's practice some stand-stays! Brushing their teeth? Time for a quick recall down the hall!

It was hard to keep his focus in tonight's class. The ring next to us is Utility and Clancy seemed far more interested in doing the directed jump. He was also stressing a bit on the sit stays and down stays. Ah well something to work on. That's hard to practice at home though. Maybe I need more dogs for distraction practice?.....
