Puppy Overload

Oh wow. How do people raise puppies? Finnegan the Foster Pup is wearing me out. Don't get me wrong - he's a well behaved little guy and has perfect bathroom manners (that was a pleasant surprise!) But energy?! Inexhaustible. Well, almost inexhaustible except I exhaust much earlier than he does.

Nothing makes you appreciate the value of crate training more than having a dog that refuses to go into a crate (two weeks later and some high value stuffed Kongs have changed his mind about the evil crate). Oh, and have I mentioned how much I LOVE Kongs!?!?!

Poor Clancy's training has taken a back seat to just trying to maintain sanity in the house. When there's a window of opportunity I take Finnegan out for a walk to wear him out, much to Clancy's disgust. On workday mornings I take them both out for about a half-hour walk. They do surprisingly well together although Finnegan does try to initiate the bitey-face game on the way home.

Clancy's opinion of his foster brother

It's gotta be tough on the little dude to be stuck in our house all day by himself. Keeping him locked in the kitchen only worked until he discovered he could jump over the baby gate/kitchen chair barrier that we constructed. Fortunately his house manners have been excellent. And we've been diligent about making sure all bedroom doors are closed tight before we leave. No one wants to come home to Barbie-doll chewfest!

Hopefully his perfect family will come along soon. He just loves people, dogs, cats, kids...you name it. Everyone is just a friend he hasn't licked yet. And despite his puppy rambunctiousness, he's a very calm tempered dog and will be a joy to any family ready to commit to a little exercise and obedience training.

Who wouldn't fall in love with this face?
